First time purchaser of beef from the farm? Here are some frequently asked questions.

After I fill out the reservation form what happens?

A phone call to you will happen from Bergner Beef Farm, to confirm order, quantity and date, as well as explain all details and answer any questions. After confirmation from Bergner Beef you will receive a paypal invoice for downpayment of your reserved beef. After we receive your payment, your beef is reserved and we will contact you in regards to filling out the processing form to determine the various cuts of meat and packaging. Please note all downpayments are non-refundable, unless Bergner Beef is not able to full-fill the order, due to unforseen circumstances.

How do I know what to order, what is normally included in a whole beef, half or quarter?

Bergner Beef will walk you through the processing form to help you determine what to order. Bergner Beef will walk you thru the whole process and explain your options for cuts/processing.In the event, you have technical questions about the cuts we will refer you to Otto’s Meats to ensure you are getting exactly what you want. How will I know my order is ready?

You will receive a phone call from Otto’s Meats when your order is ready. Depending upon on how you want to receive your meat will depend on when you pick it up. You may want it fresh, frozen or smoked, and depending on your order will determine when you pick it up. You will make arrangements for this with Otto’s Meats.

How much meat should I expect? How much room do I need in my freezer?

For a quarter share (85 pounds of meat), you’ll want to have 4 cubic feet. And for a Side (half), around 8 cubic feet. A whole cow will need 16 cubic feet. 

How do I know exactly what to pay for the beef, do you invoice me or does the meat processing company invoice me?

Once your beef goes for processing, Otto’s Meats will weigh the hanging weight. Bergner Beef will then invoice you for the sale of the beef through paypal for the hanging weight. Your payment must be received within 24-48 hours of receiving the paypal invoice. Otto’s Meats will contact you when your meat is ready for pick-up and payment for processing is due when you pick-up. So, there are two payments that are made. One for the beef (paid to Bergner Beef) and one for the processing and packaging (paid to Otto’s Meats).
